Below is our policy on sales, shipping, and refunds for arcade machines (and other items requiring freight shipping). When you purchase one of these items from us, with sea freight handled by an intermediary distributor, you acknowledge that you have read and agree to these terms.
Machine Condition
In principle, all machines are sold “as-is”. They are products designed for commercial use in another market and are in used condition. Unless stated otherwise, machines will have signs of use and age (scratches, cracks, dirt and dust, tobacco residue, etc.), modifications, repairs, and other flaws compared to when they came out of the factory. We will do our best to accurately represent the condition of each specific machine for sale. We will also clean and test machines to the best of our abilities. Our aim is to only sell machines we would be happy to operate ourselves. However, we make no guarantees against normal wear and tear and cosmetic issues.
Freight Shipping
There are multiple ways a machine may be transported from the distributor’s warehouse to the buyer. We can assist with organizing shipping through STI (where a machine would be moved on its own wheels or using a hand truck/dolly), or through Fastenal (for palletized machines). Buyers may also organize shipping in another way, such as contracting through UShip, or they may choose to do self-pickup.
The buyer is responsible for choosing which shipping option will work for them and ensuring that the machine can be picked up from the distributor’s warehouse. They must also ensure that the shipping method will service their delivery address, and that they are prepared to receive it. They should understand the risks associated with different shipping methods when making their choice. If the buyer chooses self-pickup, they are responsible for bringing an appropriate vehicle to transport the machine and securing it properly for transport.
Generally, machines will already be wrapped in plastic and/or cardboard sheets and shipping blankets. The buyer will have the option to pay for additional packaging for added security. For pallet shipping methods, they will have to pay a fee for the distributor to do palletization of the machine (TBD).
Once the buyer has paid to secure their machine, they will have 90 days from the date of payment to get the machine out of the distributor’s warehouse. In the event that the machine is still at the distributor’s warehouse after that time with no scheduled arrangements in place, the buyer will forfeit their right to the machine. We make no guarantee that we will issue a partial or full refund in this circumstance.
Damage
In the event that a machine which is purchased while at our facility receives damage during shipping from us to the distributor’s warehouse, or that a machine receives damage at the distributor’s warehouse during storage or packing after it has been purchased, we will offer the buyer the option of either a discount based on our assessment of the value of the damage, or a full refund.
In the event that a machine is damaged during shipping from the distributor’s warehouse arranged by the buyer, and the damage cannot be covered by shipping insurance, we may offer a refund (partial or full) at our discretion based on our assessment of the value of the damage. We cannot accept returns in any situation due to the cost of shipping.
In the event that a machine is damaged while the buyer is doing self-pickup, this is the responsibility of the buyer and we cannot offer any recompense except in extenuating circumstances, at our discretion.
As an alternative to partial refunds, we may offer to supply replacement parts, depending on the specific circumstances.
Once the machine has been received by the buyer, any damage or failure that may occur after that point is the responsibility of the buyer.
Machine Handling, Setup, and Operation
It is the buyer’s responsibility to understand the proper procedures for moving, setting up, and operating the machines. We will make an effort to provide the relevant manuals, documentation and advice on this topic, but we make no guarantee about being able to provide correct or complete information. Manuals will usually be in Japanese only, although we may be able to help interpret their contents if the buyer has questions.
The buyer agrees that once they have received the machine, we accept no liability or responsibility for the way in which the buyer uses it. We cannot be held responsible for injury or death resulting from moving, service, or use of the machine. We also cannot be held responsible if the buyer uses the machine in an unlicensed or illegal manner. If the buyer intends to operate the machine in a public setting, they are responsible for compliance with relevant regulations.
Regarding machines that come without game PCBs, those that come with game motherboards but without ROMs or drives for game data, and those that come with software which will not boot or play without being connected to the manufacturer’s network, the buyer acknowledges that they understand this condition and that we cannot assist with software and network related issues.
