About This Model
In our opinion, the Sega New Net City is one of the best and most versatile CRT "candy" cabinets. The main body is constructed of metal and can be extensively disassembled with just a few hand tools, enabling getting it through small doorways or up stairs with some effort. The Toshiba PureFlat tri-sync CRT looks great in all resolutions and connects over a VGA cable, making it easy to connect a PC, Xbox 360, Dreamcast, etc. It is native JVS, meaning plug-and-play support for Sega Naomi, Taito Type X, Triforce, and other systems of that era. It can also function as a JAMMA cabinet with the installation of a converter board or JAMMA wiring harness. The 10cm speakers can easily be upgraded to improve audio fidelity. As opposed to most CRT candies, it sits on four wheels (fixed at the back, swiveling casters at the front), making it easy to move around. Downsides are that the cabinet is slightly deeper than Sega's older 29" cabinets, and requires quite a bit of disassembly to rotate the monitor. The plastic monitor surrounds and bezels have also usually yellowed with age.
